Since 1993. We have been locally-led and operated that whole time, which is more than thirty years working on homes in this region. That matters more than it sounds: Puget Sound housing stock runs from 1920s bungalows to new construction, and the right answer for one is rarely the right answer for the other.

Often the same day. If you call before 1pm we can usually get a technician to you that day, and members of our 5 Star Maintenance Plan go to the front of the queue. Our vans are stocked, so most common repairs are finished on the first visit rather than waiting on a part.

Same test as any system: repair cost against age, condition and repair history. Ten to fifteen years is a typical life, so a major component failure at the top of that range usually points to replacement, particularly with current rebates. We will price both and let you choose.

Not necessarily. Heat pumps deliver air cooler than a gas furnace does, so it can feel cool at the vent while still heating the house properly. If the house is genuinely not holding temperature, then it is worth looking at, and the usual causes are refrigerant charge, a failed reversing valve or a defrost problem.

It is the backup electric heat that assists when the heat pump cannot keep up, typically in a cold snap. Occasional use is expected. Constant use is not, and it is expensive, so if the auxiliary light is on all the time the heat pump itself needs looking at.

It is our annual maintenance membership. Members get discounted annual maintenance, priority service, no overtime charges, a discounted diagnostic fee that is free at the Platinum level, an extended repair warranty, discounted water heater service, and a reminder when your maintenance is due. Members who call before 1pm can usually be seen the same day.

A three year labor warranty on our work as standard, plus a Lifetime Workmanship Warranty. Manufacturer warranties on the equipment itself run separately and vary by brand and model. A Comfort Shield Extended Warranty is available if you want coverage beyond that, and we will explain what each one covers before you decide.

Some frost in cold damp weather is normal, and the unit runs a defrost cycle to clear it. A thick casing of ice that does not clear is not normal and usually means a defrost control, sensor or refrigerant fault. Do not chip it off, because it is easy to puncture the coil that way.

Maintaining Your Heat Pump

We cannot emphasize enough how valuable annual maintenance can be for your comfort and budget.

A professional tune-up prevents heat pump issues, keeps your system running efficiently, and extends its service life. Our experts can catch minor issues before they become extensive and costly problems. Dirty coils can cause your heat pump to work harder, stressing the compressor and blower.
