Bathtub and Shower Installation and Replacement

A technician working on installing a new shower head.

Bathtubs and showers can last 10 to 50 years, depending on the materials used in their construction and how well they are maintained. Faucet and showerhead lifespan can range from a few years to over 20 years.

If your bathtub has lost its luster and your shower looks worn, it may be time to replace it, no matter how old. Our team can handle all plumbing needs for your new bathtub and shower enclosure, from drain location to installing new fixtures.

We also work closely with remodeling and construction contractors on bathroom additions and makeovers.

Upgrade Your Bathroom With Stylish Tub and Shower Fixtures

Upgrading a faucet or showerhead is an easy way to enhance bathroom functionality and design. A straightforward fixture replacement typically takes under an hour to install.

A more complicated installation requiring additional plumbing may take longer to complete. Our licensed Washington plumbers always give you the most accurate time estimate possible before starting any work.

We always try to minimize our impact on your daily routine and quickly restore water and function to your bathroom.

In addition to replacing your faucet and showerhead with similar fixtures, consider some of the trendy fixtures available today:

  • Steam showers give your shower a spa-like twist. They generate warm steam for a relaxing experience while using less water than a conventional shower.
  • Rain showerheads bring the soothing feel of the rain into your shower.
  • A soaking tub, longer and taller than a conventional tub, can hold more water, creating a bath experience where you can unwind from stress.
  • Smart showerheads do more than offer a variety of spray settings. They enable you to customize and monitor water temperature, control water flow, and use a built-in timer. Some showerheads also follow voice commands and contain Bluetooth® wireless technology speakers.
  • Advanced tub faucets fill your bath to a desired level and maintain precise water temperature.
  • Low-flow faucets and showerheads can save money on water bills.

Whatever type of shower and tub feature you need, our pros at Ballard Heating, Cooling, Electric & Plumbing can smoothly integrate it into your plumbing system. Ask us about our expert installation services and our financing options (on approved credit).

Often yes, depending on the valve and the access. Many replacements are done through the existing opening or from an access panel behind. If the tile does have to come out we will tell you before we start rather than partway through.

Yes. We quote upfront, before the work starts, so there is no surprise at the end. For larger jobs we put a detailed proposal together onsite and back it with our Price Lock Guarantee, which means the price we put in writing is the price you pay. Estimates are free.

Since 1993. We have been locally-led and operated that whole time, which is more than thirty years working on homes in this region. That matters more than it sounds: Puget Sound housing stock runs from 1920s bungalows to new construction, and the right answer for one is rarely the right answer for the other.

Often the same day. If you call before 1pm we can usually get a technician to you that day, and members of our 5 Star Maintenance Plan go to the front of the queue. Our vans are stocked, so most common repairs are finished on the first visit rather than waiting on a part.

Usually the drain, and usually hair and soap in the trap or the branch line. If several fixtures are slow at once it points further down the system, possibly the main line, and that is worth looking at properly rather than pouring chemicals at it.

If the fixture body is sound, replacing cartridges and seals is often enough and much cheaper. If parts are no longer available for the model, or the finish and body are corroded, replacement is the better spend. We will tell you which you are looking at.

It is our annual maintenance membership. Members get discounted annual maintenance, priority service, no overtime charges, a discounted diagnostic fee that is free at the Platinum level, an extended repair warranty, discounted water heater service, and a reminder when your maintenance is due. Members who call before 1pm can usually be seen the same day.

A three year labor warranty on our work as standard, plus a Lifetime Workmanship Warranty. Manufacturer warranties on the equipment itself run separately and vary by brand and model. A Comfort Shield Extended Warranty is available if you want coverage beyond that, and we will explain what each one covers before you decide.

That is a pressure balance issue, and older valves do not compensate for it. A modern pressure balancing or thermostatic valve fixes it properly. It is also a scald risk in a house with children or older adults, which is usually the reason people finally deal with it.

Repairing Your Tub Faucet and Showerhead

If your tub faucet or showerhead is relatively new, you may benefit from repairs rather than replacement.

What can go wrong with your faucet or showerhead? Worn parts may cause the fixtures to leak or drip. The diverter valve may malfunction, causing water to flow from your tub faucet and showerhead simultaneously. The handles may squeak or be hard to turn.

You do not have to live with leaking faucets or dripping showerheads that waste water and money. Let our qualified plumbers at Ballard Heating, Cooling, Electric & Plumbing assess your bathroom fixtures and quickly fix them with quality parts and expert craftsmanship.

We offer 24/7 emergency plumbing repair services for burst and leaking pipes and other problems that need immediate attention.

Maintaining Tub and Shower Fixtures

Need help keeping your tub faucet and showerhead in good condition? Although conventional faucets typically need only regular cleaning to prevent mineral deposits, more complicated fixtures, such as steam showers, may benefit from periodic inspections to ensure water lines, seals, and joints operate without leaks.

We can inspect, adjust, and clean any tub and shower fixtures, prolonging their service life and ensuring they are in top condition.
