Garbage Disposal Replacement and Installation

Garbage disposals last approximately 12 to 15 years if they are maintained. If your unit jams up frequently or makes loud noises, it may be time to replace it.
Every installation or replacement we handle is different because plumbing systems and electrical services vary from kitchen to kitchen. If this is your first garbage disposal, we can confirm if your plumbing is ready to handle a new appliance.
We can help you choose the best garbage disposal for your needs and budget:
- Do you want stainless steel or galvanized steel components in your new garbage disposal?
- Do you prefer a hardwired model or one that plugs into an electrical outlet?
- Is continuous feed or batch feed better for your needs?
If you have a big family and frequently prepare meals at home, you may need a unit with more horsepower. Typically, more powerful garbage disposals are bigger than standard models. The space available under your sink may dictate the brand or model you choose.
A continuous feed garbage disposal enables you to add scraps as it operates. Batch feed models only run when a safety stopper covers the drain.
Our experts can advise you about the many features available, including noise reduction technology, single- and multiple-stage grinding, push-button starters, and dishwasher drain connectors.

Eight to fifteen years typically. Jams, reset trips and stuck impellers are all repairable. A leaking body or a burnt out motor generally is not worth repairing, because a replacement unit costs less than the labor to rebuild one.
Since 1993. We have been locally-led and operated that whole time, which is more than thirty years working on homes in this region. That matters more than it sounds: Puget Sound housing stock runs from 1920s bungalows to new construction, and the right answer for one is rarely the right answer for the other.
Often the same day. If you call before 1pm we can usually get a technician to you that day, and members of our 5 Star Maintenance Plan go to the front of the queue. Our vans are stocked, so most common repairs are finished on the first visit rather than waiting on a part.
Something is jamming the impeller. Switch it off at the wall first, then use the hex key in the slot underneath to free it by hand. Once it turns freely, press the red reset button on the base. If it hums again immediately, the motor is likely going.
It is our annual maintenance membership. Members get discounted annual maintenance, priority service, no overtime charges, a discounted diagnostic fee that is free at the Platinum level, an extended repair warranty, discounted water heater service, and a reminder when your maintenance is due. Members who call before 1pm can usually be seen the same day.
Grease and oil, fibrous material like celery and onion skins, coffee grounds, eggshells, pasta and rice, and bones. Grease is the worst of them, because it goes down warm and solidifies further along the line where you cannot reach it.
A three year labor warranty on our work as standard, plus a Lifetime Workmanship Warranty. Manufacturer warranties on the equipment itself run separately and vary by brand and model. A Comfort Shield Extended Warranty is available if you want coverage beyond that, and we will explain what each one covers before you decide.
Food residue in the grind chamber and on the splash guard, which people rarely clean. Grinding ice with a little citrus peel helps, and cleaning the underside of the splash guard directly makes more difference than anything you pour in.
Garbage Disposal Repair
No matter how careful you are with your garbage disposal, breakdowns can happen. If your garbage disposal stops working or jams frequently, we can help. Contact us if you experience these problems:
- A garbage disposal that hums when you turn it on indicates it has power. Food or an object likely is jamming the grinding components.
- It works, but the water does not drain. The garbage disposal, the pipe under the sink, or the drain line likely is clogged.
- If you find water in your sink cabinet, the connections between pipes and your garbage disposal may be loose or a worn rubber gasket at the top of the garbage disposal may need replacement.
Our goal with every job is to provide worry-free service and 100 percent customer satisfaction.
